Here’s what’s happenin’ lately!
Learned: “Helluva” is a real word…defined as the nonstandard spelling of “hell of a.”
Eating: Homemade curry tomato bisque. Recipe to follow! Also, loving the smell of freshly picked tomatoes. Nothin’ like it.
Watching: The Bachelorette (not a fan of this season…), So You Think You Can Dance (Melanie & Marko!), and my new show, Surprise Homecoming on TLC. The first episode I wept like a baby…multiple times.
Read/ing: “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. Excellent book! Currently reading “The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver.
Experiencing: The local Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. Omish-made sourdough bread, local veggies & fruit, and buying fresh hydrangea flowers in mason jars. Just so lovely…
Playing: “Mom.” It was my favorite game as a kid and well, this past week I’ve babysat 4 girls at once. THREE car seats in my Honda at once filled with pigtails, baby dolls, and sticky fingers!
Dwelling: “A year from now you may wish you had started today.” –Karen Lamb
When I look towards next year this time, I will be graduated with an M.Div degree. I have a few ideas brewing about what’s next when it comes to a place to live and potential jobs…but as much as I love this quote, some things really just have to wait a year. (Or do they?…hm…ahh no, I can’t quit school…I can’t quit…I can’t…I…uh…hmmm…)
Started: Writing down my dreams as soon as I wake up. Got the idea from here, which she calls “Morning Pages.” 1. Write down your dreams from the night before. 2. Write in a stream of consciousness for a bit. 3. Write 10 things you’re grateful for.
Also started teaching Zumba since receiving my license! I’ve LOVED it and have already taught 9 times! Each time, I feel more and more comfortable. I’ve been hired at Wake Forest, Curves, and another independent women’s health club. Those endorphins get me pumped every time, making me actually want to workout daily.
Listening: “Cathedrals” by Jump Little Children, “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley, “Long Time Traveler” by The Wailin’ Jennys, & “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Lighthouse Family. Seriously, all good tunes if you want something to listen to beach side!
Enjoyed: Time my family, visiting some college friends (Vic, Helen, Amy & Alyson!) & my back patio set up with my plants.
Anticipating: My college roommate, Helen, coming to visit TOMORROW! YAY!
So far, it’s been one helluva summer! What’s been happenin’ in your life, bloggies?
